New Release: The Gigolo’s Bride, Book 2 in The Necklace Chronicles Series!

It is with great pleasure that I announce that the second book in The Necklace Chronicles series, The Gigolo’s Bride, is available for purchase on Amazon and Smashwords.  This story started with an idea:  what if there was a planet of men who had blue hair until they found their soul mate?  From that simple notion, and many, many, many edits, came The Gigolo’s Bride.  At its core, it’s a story of redemption and acceptance.

The Gigolo’s Bride

The Necklace Chronicles Book 2

Sold into slavery….

Only one person can truly set former sex slave Eden Atarn free:  his soul mate.

Taken from her planet….

When Ashleigh Turner receives a beautiful necklace as a gift from a secret admirer, she has no idea who it came from.  When another delivery shows up at her home, instead of finding out who sent her the necklace, she finds herself transported onto an alien spaceship as it speeds her away from earth.

Will she be what he needs or find herself a slave as well….

On a planet where forced prostitution is a punishment and young adults are sold by their families for money, Ashleigh must decide if she can be what Eden needs when she comes face to face with what he once was.  Will she always want to go home, or will she find that the place she longs to be most is in Eden’s arms?

I really am very grateful to Alexis Arendt and her staff at Word Vagabond, for their editing insight and assistance.   If you are in the market for an editor, they are fantastic and you can contact them here.   Do you love the cover?  I do!!  Many thanks to Deer Watson Media for their ability to create such an amazing cover from my notes.   Not only do they provide reasonably priced, amazing covers, but they’re also quick and easy to work with.  You can contact them here.

You’ll find The Gigolo’s Bride (The Necklace Chronicles) for sale on Amazon here and Smashwords here, for 99 cents.  It will follow on B&N, Apple, and other ebook distributors within six to eight weeks.

October is Michael’s month, so stay tuned for a glimpse of the sexy cover for the wolf trouble maker.  Enjoy The Gigolo’s Bride and, as always, Happy Reading!  ~R

Blog Tour Stop: Inside the Mind of RE Butler

Page Turner Book Tours The Tribe’s Bride Tour Stop #2

In the spirit of sharing on my wicked cool Blog Tour with Page Turner Book Tours, I decided to let you get to know me and my writing process.

This was a great day. My toes matched my new fancy flip flops!

First of all, R.E. Butler is a pen name.  One reason I did that, is because my married name is a very unique one and I didn’t want people my husband worked with to google him and discover that his wife writes paranormal romance novels.  Not that he cares, mind you, because he enjoys my success, but you’d be amazed how often people google themselves and each other on a whim.  It’s a combination of names from my family lineage, and not one that could be traced back to my husband.

Now that that’s out of the way, let me tell you about my writing process.  Oh, wait, I don’t have one!  I basically sit down every day and work.  That’s it.  I’m either writing, reading, editing or brainstorming.  I don’t lay a book out ahead of time, write extensive histories of the characters, or do a whole ton of research when I start.  I start with whatever I have – a concept, name, or place – and I go from there.  I don’t start editing until I’m done, and if I have research to do (which I almost always have to look up a few things), it usually gets done at the end.  I daydream about my books.  If I get stuck, I spend time just thinking about the characters and what I want from them, and I wait for them to speak back to me.  You might think that as an author there’s a sort of godlike ability with the world that you’ve created, but that’s not entirely true.  If you’ve ever read a story in which a character acted completely out of character, then you know what I mean.  If I set up a character to be an alpha male, then I can’t have him skipping and picking daisies in the next chapter.

This is my office.  Boring, right?  But all mine!  I’ve got my iPod for music, plus I’m always on YouTube looking for hot men to play leads (at least in my mind).  I’m a big procrastinater on YouTube.  So much fun stuff to explore.

We recently purchased a weekend home on a lagoon in a bay off the Atlantic Ocean.  We spend long weekends and vacation time in our little home, boating and hanging out.  I love having a place to go where we can just unwind and relax.  At first I thought I wouldn’t ever have time to write because we would be so busy, but then my husband surprised me by buying himself a small fishing boat.  So for several hours each morning we’re there, I can write to my hearts’ content while he takes the kids fishing.  I love that little boat!

Here are what my “weekend home” offices look like.  I have two places I like to write.  Here is the kitchen table.  Notice the can of Pepsi for a caffeine pick-me-up, my iPad for procrastinating by checking twitter, and the bag of emergency chocolate chip cookies.

My second office is in the screened-in porch off the back.  We have things here in NJ called Greenheads.  They’re little biting flies with bright green heads.  Ugh, they hurt and make it impossible to be outside sometimes, so when I want to be out in the fresh air, I sit on the screened in porch, laptop on lap.  I love looking out over the water, and out there I have an incredible view of the lagoon.  In the morning, before everyone is up, I sit out there with a mug of hot tea and just dig the quiet.  Everyone needs a place where they can get away from things and just decompress.  I’m lucky to have access to such an amazing place.

What makes me tick?  I’m a wife and mother.  I’ve been married for almost twelve years, and my daughter is 9 and my son is 4.  We have two dogs and two large tanks of South African cichlids.  This is Montana aka Bad Dog, who is always hanging out wherever I am, waiting for me to look away for one second so he can grab one of those cookies, or whatever else I’m snacking on.  He’s my fierce protector (doesn’t he look fierce?).  Trust me, he may look relaxed, but he’s plotting world domination that somehow involves cookies.

I love to read, I love to write, and I love to watch TV and movies, especially anything sci-fi.  Did I always want to be a writer?  Yes.  But I also wanted to marry David Hasslehoff, have a pet monkey, and be a marine biologist.  Sometimes, reality really takes a bite out of your dreams.  I’m really lucky – blessed! – to be surrounded by supportive family and friends.  I’ve learned a lot about myself since I began writing a few years ago, and taking the plunge into self-publishing has been more exciting and rewarding then I ever could have imagined.

Two commenters on this blog will receive a free digital copy of The Tribe’s Bride!  To enter, comment here on the blog and tell me, When you want to get away from everything, where do you go?  Do you have a special place in your home that you can hang out, uninterrupted for a little while, or do you go somewhere special for that oh-so-precious me-time?

The Tribe’s Bride Release, Contest Results, & Blog Tour

It is with great pleasure that I announce the official release of The Tribe’s Bride (The Necklace Chronicles) today, July 25th, which is available now on Amazon and Smashwords.

When a university job interview goes south, Carrie Wade isn’t certain that she’ll ever find work in her field of ancient Native American Culture.  Knowing the only job waiting for her is waitressing at a coffee house, Carrie indulges in a post-disappointment shopping trip.  An old necklace in an antique store window catches her eye and she immediately feels as if she cannot walk away without owning it.  The very last thing she needs to do is squander her savings by investing in a necklace that may have, at one time, belonged to one of the tribes she studied…but she can’t help herself.

When she tries on the precious necklace at home, she passes out and wakes up in the tent of the necklace’s original owners, three Native American tribesmen from the late 1600s.  Will she be able to get back home to the future, or will she find out that the one place she was always meant to be was back in time as the tribe’s bride?

This novella contains m/f/m/m interaction, three handsome brothers that will do anything for each other and their woman, and a magical necklace that brings them all together.

You can purchase The Tribe’s Bride on Smashwords here or Amazon here for 99 cents.  It will follow on B&N, Apple, and other outlets within six to eight weeks.

First to the fun!  I had a tremendous amount of comments on my giveaway post on Monday, which asked, “if you could go to any time, past or future, where would you go?”  I loved reading each response.  Using Randomizer.org, the following four people were chosen to receive a free digital copy of the book.

1.  Chanel

2.  Lydia

3.  Shawnnita Miranda

4.  smartmouthtexan

I have sent out emails to the winners, so please respond quickly to let me know which format you would prefer to receive your book in, and I’ll get it right to you!  Thanks to everyone who responded and congrats to the winners!

Because this book is the start of a new series, I wanted to go a different route than normal.  I chose a professional editor, and can’t thank Alexis Arendt at Word Vagabond (www.wordvagabond.wordpress.com) enough for her help.  Her insight into characterization and world building really helped take this book to the next level.  I highly recommend Word Vagabond for any authors that are looking for editing help.

I also decided to go with a professional book cover, and chose Deer Watson Media to handle it.  Let me just say, I love the cover!  D.W.M. was so incredibly easy to work with.  Not only quick, but competitively priced and willing to work with me to get exactly what I wanted.  I think the cover model looks exactly as I’d pictured Carrie, and the split background is just so cool.  You can find them on their GoodReads page here.

I’m advertising on The Romance Studio beginning on August 1st!  You can find me on their home page for month of August…www.theromancestudio.com

Now onto the Blog Tour!  Oh my!  I can’t believe how much fun doing a tour is!  I feel like a total celebrity.  Over the next eight days, from July 26th to August 2nd, I will be appearing on eight blogs (including a post here on the 27th), and I’m just so thrilled.  Not only do I get to reach out to new audiences here in the states and in the UK, but I get to be interviewed, have my book reviewed, and do guest posts.  I’m so glad I’ve done it.

Page Turner Book Tours (www.pageturnerbooktours.blogspot.co.uk) is heading the blog tour, which will give away a ton of copies of The Tribe’s Bride to commenters.  For those that enter through the rafflecopter on the tour website, you’ll be entered for a chance to win one of two awesome prizes.  The grand prize is a $25 gift card of your choice of Amazon or B&N, a handmade bracelet with colors mentioned in the story (it’s wicked cool!), and an eBook.  The second place prize is a handmade bracelet and an eBook.

The kick off starts today at their website, so check it out here!

Be sure to stop by Page Turner Book Tours to enter the rafflecopter, and stop by the blogs every day and comment to increase your chances (and get to know me and my characters a bit better).  You can keep up-to-date with the different blogs by following me on twitter @rebutlerauthor.

The next week promises to be exciting, not only with the release of the first of my new series, but also the blog tour.  I can’t wait, and I look forward to meeting you on the blog tour.

I’d like to say a sincere thanks for all the support I’ve received since I announced this new book a few weeks back.  It’s been incredible and heart-warming!  All the best, R

The Tribe’s Bride Promo Contest!!

In my last post, I mentioned that I’d be hosting a giveaway of a few copies of my new ebook, The Tribe’s Bride (The Necklace Chronicles).  Tribe will be published on Smashwords and Amazon on Wednesday, July 25th.  I’m so excited about this book that I’m offering four free copies to four random commenters on this blog post.

Tribe is, in essence, a time-travel book.  Carrie buys an old necklace, puts it on, and wakes up in bed with the owners back in the late 1600s.  Not all the books in the series will be about actual time travel, but they will all involve “travel” of one sort or another, from their own bed to the bed of the hottie(s) who created the necklace in question.  The possibilities with the series are endless.

Here is a teaser:

“Do not be afraid, little fox, we mean you no harm,” the largest of three, who looked like a linebacker, spoke with a gentle tone.

She answered him back in his language.  “My name isn’t Little Fox.  It’s Carrie.”

“You can speak as we do.  But your skin is so unusual,” the middle one said.

“I studied your language in school.”

“School?” the third one said.  He appeared to be the youngest.

“A place where I was taught by elders,” she supplied.  She hadn’t realized she had slipped into English for the word ‘school’.  They had no equivalent, because they had no formal schooling.

They nodded, but looked confused.  The middle one said, “You learned our language?  Why?”

“Because I’m from the year 2012.  Your tribe, the Bloqui, disappeared in the late 1600s.  I studied your tribe because I thought it was, um, interesting?”  Interesting?  More like lifesaving.

“2012?  That is a long time from now?”  The first one said speculatively.

“Yeah.  And just how the hell did that happen, anyway?  Am I dreaming?  Or dead?”  She pinched her arm hard enough to make herself grimace.

“Stop that, please.  You are not dreaming.  You have our heishe necklace.  We cast magic on the necklace and we were promised that the woman that appeared wearing the necklace would be our bride,” the middle one said.

Her mouth dropped open.  “Excuse me?”

The large one said, “Brother, we need to introduce ourselves to the little fox first.  You will terrify her beyond measure if you speak of loving.”

“My name isn’t Little Fox!”  She growled.

The large one smirked.  “I know your name is Carrie, but you shiver like a little fox in the snow.  It is endearing.”

She snorted and realized that she had forgotten that she was naked and so were they.  She slapped her legs together and covered her breasts with her arms.  The youngest one reached to the sleeping mat, pulled off a hide blanket and brought it to her.  He draped it around her and she smiled thankfully up at him.

“Carrie,” the middle one said, but it sounded like ka-air-ee, “my name is Coyote Chasing Deer, and I am eldest.  This is Bear Who Fights, and our youngest brother, Hawk Who Soars.  You may call us by our animal names if you wish.  We are banished from our tribe.  Our tribal council tried to whip our brother and banish him and we stood up for him and they banished us all.  As we left, our grandmother brought us the necklace and spell and told us it would bring us a bride to share.  This morning, I woke up with you in my arms.”

To enter the giveaway, simply comment below and tell me….if you could go to any time (past or future), where would you go?

**My answer would be I’d like to go back to the old west.  I’ve always been a lover of cowboys, and I think it would be amazing to live in a time without television, cars, and modern conveniences.  Of course, it would be a hardship, but I’d just have to find a cowboy or two willing to share those hardships.  *grin*

The contest runs from today until noon on Wednesday, July 25th.  On a blog post on Wednesday, I will post the buy links for smashwords and amazon, and the names of the four winners, who will have their choice of ebook format, either pdf or in the form of a coupon through smashwords.

I’m also really excited to announce my first ever Blog Tour!  The amazing folks at Page Turner Book Tours are hosting a week-long Blog Tour for The Tribe’s Bride.  My book and me are going to be featured on 8 blogs beginning on Wednesday the 25th, with reviews, interviews, and guest posts.  I’ll post the blog names/addresses on Wednesday.  I hope that you will all join me.  Up for grabs for commenters during the tour are more copies of the book and some really cool prizes!

Don’t forget to comment here about where you would time-travel to for your chance to win one of four books, and stay tuned for more Release Day happenings!  All the best, R

New Series Teaser – The Tribe’s Bride

It is with a big smile and ton of excitement that I announce the debut of my newest novella series, The Necklace Chronicles, which will hit Smashwords and Amazon on July 25th for 99 cents.  The first in the series is titled, The Tribe’s Bride.  The official description and amazing cover are below:

The Tribe’s Bride (The Necklace Chronicles Book 1)

When a university job interview goes south, Carrie Wade isn’t certain that she’ll ever find work in her field of ancient Native American Culture.  Knowing the only job waiting for her is waitressing at a coffee-house, Carrie indulges in a post-disappointment shopping trip.

Will she be able to get back home to the future or will she find out that the one place she was always meant to be was back in time as the tribe’s bride?

This novella contains m/f/m/m interaction, three handsome brothers that will do anything for each other and their woman, and a magical necklace that brings them all together.

I’ve always said that an author can’t be an island.  Although self-publishing makes it easy for anyone with a computer and a book idea to publish, it doesn’t mean that you really can do it alone.  I majored in English in college and would have been an English teacher if I’d finished (hmmm….that’s a long story for another time).  I’d like to think I can write a grammatically perfect book, but that’s not really possible.  For so long, I’ve leaned on my beta reader/editor/cover designer extraordinaire, Kameko Gay, and I still am abusing her good nature with my Wolf and Wiccan series.  But the one thing I couldn’t do was wait for those series to be finished so I could start another one, because frankly, I don’t see them ending anytime soon!  It’s been a long road for me to come to the point where I’ve made enough contacts in the “business” that are willing to work with an independent (“indie”) author like myself.  This new time-travel novella series wouldn’t be possible without the help of two very wonderful groups of pros….

My amazing cover?  It’s courtesy of the artistic minds at Deer Watson Media (Go to their Goodreads page here for contact info).  With amazingly fast results, they produced a custom-made cover using details from the book and were not only extremely courteous and professional, but really, really reasonable.

I went the way of professional editing this time around and I couldn’t be happier.  Handing the reins over to a professional allowed me to write more instead of focusing on editing.  I can’t thank Alexis Arendt at Word Vagabond enough.  You can contact her company here.  I’m glad I did!

Stay tuned.  On July 23rd, I’ll be hosting a giveaway.  Four lucky commenters will win a free e-copy of the book when it debuts on the 25th.  Thanks for stopping by, and as always, Happy, Happy Reading!  Best, R
